Gullivers Land

Fathers day was a wonderful event filled with board games, video games and a few hours at Gullivers Land. Both kids enjoyed their day out and Daddy and I had a good time as well!

The food was hideous; though! Be forwarned, pack your own and eat it in the car!

Clean Room Relay

So we have implemented an idea I found on pinterest...

The clean room relay!

I will post the link when I get back onto my computer, but I dont have it here on my phone.
Here it is... from Prepared Not Scared....

At first glance Little Lady wasn't interested. She's not much for picking up as she goes along; and cleaning her room? Only when made to do so!

Little man was all for it! Cleaning is still fun, and he's a tidy enough guy, so theidea of getting a prize just for doing it when I asked was a GREAT idea!

So, I put the board together, hoping to entice Little Lady to play along.

I made 3 cards. To my relief, she wanted in when she found out that I was playing too, and that they got to pick a prize beforehand ( from a specific set of prizes) and when their cards were all marked off, they got their prize!

I put the clean room relay board under my scrabble board, so that everyone could reach it. I added 3 small magnetic dry erase markers for us to use.

The first week was a HUGE success! I wish that I'd done it sooner, and I hope that each week works as well as this one!

The result of Little Lady's hard work.... I should have taken a before picture!

Florida Fun

Having a blast on Clearwater Beach!  Little Lady loved to jump in the waves!

Little Lady had to have her feet impressions made for orthotics that go in her shoes!
Both kids had eye exams done.  Little Lady needed a new prescription and new glasses.  Little Man is happy that he's still the only one in the family without corrective lenses!

At the Math and Science Lab...They got to learn about fish, and to hold some corn snakes!  Little Lady was loving every minute of it!

Rain and seawalls

The kids and I took a trip to Tampa last week to visit our house.  We filled our time with visiting friends and doing an insane amount of doctor's appointments.  I expected it to be wonderfully sunny and warm in Tampa.  We got the warmth.... but not the sun.  Instead, I appear to have brought the rain with us.  It rained an awful lot that week.... and apparently it didn't stop.

Here is a before picture of my seawall...(only taken 6 DAYS ago!)

Here's the after pictures....(taken today)

The vertical brace is bowing trying to keep it all together!

the wall is bowing at the bottom

It's rained so much that severe erosion is happening, and it was SUCH a drought before that the lake is to low to support by adding pressure from the other side.

Working

Sorry guys; I haven't been playing games or updating blogs as much as I should as we were out all last week for half term, and as soon as we got back, I started work.  Not to mention the severe head cold that I'm nursing.  Yuck!  Any-who....  planning on getting back into the swing of things once I get my act together...for now it's all I can do to remember to put out everyone's clothes the night before!

Weekly Menu weeks 1-4

Remember my menu board?  It's been done for some time now, and while I've been using it (putting up each week on the board and trying to follow it); I have been shopping for it sporadically.  Hm... what's next on the board, and shopping in 1 or 2 day spurts.  This, of course, has to stop.  In a week's time, I'll be working 4 days a week, having only monday's free, so.... I have to be more organized.  In that regard, I present to you the first four weeks worth of my menu board and the coordinating shopping lists to go with them.  As you may remember, I choose to make mine into double sided book-marks and I store them in a pocket on the back of my menu board, so that  I always know where they are.

stay tuned for weeks 5-8!
